Meet the Board - 2010/2011

Joanna Schochet - President
Joanna is focusing on social entrepreneurship and organizational development at UCLA Anderson. As President of the Women’s Business Connection, she serves as the WBC representative to the Anderson Student Association (ASA) and leads the WBC Board in developing events and opportunities for women on campus. Joanna is also the vice president of external relations with the ASA and co-director of the Net Impact Consulting Challenge. Prior to joining UCLA Anderson, Joanna Schochet worked at Chrysalis, a local non-profit social service provider, in fundraising, communications and volunteer management. Before Chrysalis, she worked in the entertainment industry both on the corporate and creative sides. Joanna spent her summer as a teaching assistant with the Johnson & Johnson Management Fellows program. Joanna graduated from USC in 2003 and is the recipient of the 2010 John Wooden Global Leadership Fellowship.
Yelena Zaitseva - Vice President of Finance
Yelena is focusing on Corporate Finance in the financial services industry at UCLA Anderson. As VP of Finance in Women’s Business Connection Association, she manages the WBC budget, membership, and financial coordination with other clubs for co-sponsored events. Yelena is also a Co-President of International Business Association. Prior to UCLA Anderson Yelena Zaitseva served as an auditor with Ernst & Young, LLP where she provided assurance services to banking and asset management clients in New York City and Moscow. Yelena graduated from Franklin & Marshall College, with a B.S. in Business Administration with specialty in Accounting, and a minor in Economics.
Krithika Moorti - Co-Vice President of Alumnae Outreach and Communication
Krithika is focusing on Marketing and Strategy at UCLA Anderson. As Co-Vice President of Alumnae Outreach and Communication of the Women's Business Connection for 2010-2011, she is responsible for establishing a Women's Mentorship program, building strong relationships with alumnae and improving communication vehicles and knowledge transfer. Krithika also serves as the Vice President of External Affairs for HTBA and as a Riordan mentor. Prior to business school, Krithika worked as the team lead for IP Multimedia Solutions at Ericsson where she was responsible for system management, data analysis and test strategy. Krithika spent her summer at AT&T in Dallas where she worked for the U-Verse division in operations strategy. Krithika graduated from SMU in 2003 and enjoys cooking and playing softball in her free time.
Joanna Keh Shing - Co-Vice President of Alumnae Outreach and Communication
Joanna graduated from Columbia University in 2002 with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics. Prior to business school, Joanna worked at Citigroup for six years in the Sales and Trading Department. While at Citigroup, Joanna traded both equity and fixed income products in the New York and Hong Kong offices. During her first year at Anderson, Joanna has been interning at Western Asset Management as a part-time portfolio analyst.
Averie Wong - Vice President of Operations
Averie is focusing on Finance and Marketing at UCLA Anderson. As Vice President of Operations of the Women's Business Connection for 2010-2011, she is responsible for communicating event procedures to members and implementing measures to increase cost efficiency of all events. This position is new to the board. Averie also serves as the Anderson Student Association 2nd Year Social and the Challenge for Charity Auction Night Co-director. Averie graduated for Cornell University with a major in business. Prior to business school, Averie worked at Credit Suisse where she was part of the Fixed Income Business Management Team. In her free time, Averie enjoys playing tennis and going to concerts.
Carolyn Steinmetz - Co-Vice President of Professional Development
Carolyn Steinmetz is a first year MBA candidate at UCLA Anderson School of Management where she is studying Entertainment Strategy and Finance. As the Co-VP of Professional Development for the Women’s Business Connection, her goal is to increase the group’s outreach and access to include a wide range of women’s organizations in the Los Angeles area. At Anderson, she was selected to participate in Vistage-On-Campus, is the Director of Entrepreneurship (“E”) Labs, is the Co-President of Black Scholes Surf Club, and is the elected Alumni Relations Committee Chair. Prior to Anderson, Ms. Steinmetz held various positions in the financial services industry, most recently in Private Wealth Management at Goldman Sachs and on the hedge fund team of Bear Stearns’ Global Credit Department. Ms. Steinmetz holds a B.A. in Economics with a minor in Statistics from Dartmouth College.
Kristin Boyd Korytoski - Co-Vice President of Professional Development
Kristin is focusing on Marketing at UCLA Anderson. She currently serves as the Co-Vice President of Professional Development for the Women’s Business Connection, where she is responsible for planning events designed to foster discussion around and improve member's leadership, management and business skills. She also serves as the Vice President of Career Development for the Marketing Association and is a Project ECHO mentor. Prior to business school, Kristin worked as an Associate Brand Manager for PharmaviteLLC, leading the development and launch planning team for a new natural supplement under the NatureMade brand. She also worked as a consultant with The Monitor Group in their marketing strategy practice. Kristin spent her summer working in Corporate Brand Management for The Walt Disney Company, where she provided marketing strategy and analytic support across Disney brands. Kristin graduated from Amherst College in 2005 with a B.A. in French and Economics.
Ingrid Herod - Vice President of Admissions
Ingrid is focusing on Strategy and Operations at UCLA Anderson. As Vice President of Admissions for the Women's Business Connection for 2010-2011, she is responsible for communicating with female applicants and organizing outreach events. Ingrid serves in additional outreach roles as the ASA Admissions Co-Chair and A-Days 2011 Co-Director, and is also the VP of Education and Career Development for MCA. Prior to business school, Ingrid worked in strategy and market research in the retail real estate industry, in roles at Gap Inc. and Westfield. She spent her summer at Bain and Company as a consultant in strategy and operations. Ingrid graduated from UC San Diego with a B.S. in Management Science and enjoys traveling, dancing, playing card and board games, and watching movies in her free time.
Maria Palmer - Vice President of Community Service
During her time at UCLA Anderson, Maria is concentrating on marketing. As Vice President of Community Service of the Women’s Business Connection for 2010-2011, Maria is responsible for coordinating community service activities and charitable events related to women issues and establishing a stronger Anderson presence in the local community. In addition to the WBC, Maria is an active member of Anderson's Marketing Association. Prior to business school, she worked for an international law firm on its Marketing and Business Development team. Maria spent her summer at Roll International as a Trade Promotions Intern for FIJI Water. She graduated from Stanford in 2006 and enjoys running, hiking and enjoying the beach in her free time.
Christina Diehl - Vice President of Social
Christy is focusing on Strategy and Marketing at UCLA Anderson. As Vice President of Social for the Women’s Business Connection, Christy is in charge of planning quarterly events for the members to network while enjoying themselves. Christy is also a Vice President of Marketing for the Challenge4Charity organization and is responsible for marketing efforts for both fundraising and volunteer events with students and local businesses. Over the summer, she transitioned to the healthcare industry where she worked for DaVita as a Redwood’s Summer Associate in the strategy group. Before coming to Anderson, Christy worked as a project lead at The Boeing Company - Space & Intelligent Systems, on data processing and encryption schemes. She graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a B. S. in Electrical Engineering. During her free time, she enjoys travelling, running, yoga, and wine tasting.
Jennifer Lee - FEMBA Director
Jennifer is currently serves as the FEMBA Director of the Women's Business Connection for 2010-2011. She serves as a liaison and is responsible for building relationships between the different MBA programs, especially with the FEMBA program. Jennifer is a CPA and currently works as an assurance manager for BDO Seidman where she is responsible leading audits, SEC engagements, and assisting clients with all aspects of financial reporting. Jennifer completed her undergraduate studies from UCLA in 2004 and enjoys cooking, travelling, and hiking in her free time.
